This is a HUGE Fact Files page i created, featuring a wide variety of extinct animals. The higher up the list a fact file is, the earlier in time it lived. As you move down the page you are getting closer and closer to the present day.

Extra Info: Meganeura was larger than modern day dragonflies because there was more oxygen in the air at that time, this allowed for larger creatures in the air or on the ground. The same goes for the other huge insects of the Carboniferous.

Extra Info: Sarcosuchus fought for food with the massive carnivorous dinosaur, Suchomimus, which also ate fish. Suchomimus can be seen in this picture (look down!). These 2 heavy weights most likely battled for food...Dinosaur VS Crocodile on a grand scale! Wether who would win is another question. I personally think the massive, Suchomimus would win :)

Extra Info: Therezinosaurus had huge claws, over a meter long! It used these to defend itself against predators like Tarbosaurus, who lived at the same time as Therizinosaurus and the same place.

Extra Info: Tarbosaurus was once called Tyrannosaurus as well, but now is considered T-rex's Asian cousin (not to be racist)

Extra Info: In "Jurassic Park", Velociraptors were depicted as huge and clever predators. In actual fact, Velociraptor only stood up to about your knees. The dinosaur Utahraptor (which was 5m long, see one of the previous fact files) was discovered around the time Jurassic Park was made, so this influenced the Velociraptors huge size. As for the cleverness, Velociraptor was smart...but not smart enough to open a closed door! This would have made things a lot easier for Ellie or Lex and Tim!
